Beer Lao Brewery Tour

The powers that be at work decided that the most appropriate way to celebrate Columbus Day would be a trip to the Beer Lao factory (and who are we to argue with them). So, after a light breakfast we made the short drive to one of the most beautiful sights in Vientiane (all of those yellow crates of beer waiting to be shipped around the country shimmering under a radiant sun).

Beer Lao has won numerous international awards and has a 99% market share in Laos so clearly they are doing something right. They also have the good fortune to produce their product in a country that views beer as an integral part of any celebration, event or day.

Mid-morning and the employees of Beer Lao were happy to keep our glasses full during the video presentation. Our Lao colleagues even had the foresight to bring snacks. Some people didn't care for their free sample so I found myself with two glasses which enabled my discerning palette to detect all of the subtle differences in taste.
