The Grand Palace, is the former residence of the Thai king, and is today used for ceremonial occasions only. It is also one of the must see places in Bangkok so we joined the throngs of tourists who visit every day. The Palace grounds are also home to the monarchy's private temples with the most famous housing the Emerald Buddha. The Buddha was recovered/stolen (depending on who you ask) by the Thais centuries ago and became Thailand's most holy image.
The Palace is a mixture of Italian Renaissance and Thai architecture and was completed in 1882.
